I was thinking about building a really cool and simple blues and jazz type L5S (hollow body and double f-holes) and was thinking that I would give it a single low output (underwound?) alnico II humbucker for the neck position with a single push pull volume knob for coil tapping.

I'm going for warm and clear and clean for this tone. What pickup do you recommend?

I tried to find a Dimarzio version, but it seems they don't make a pickup with an A2.

If the alnico II pros had covers... that'd be awesome... I'm staying away from "total vintage" things like 2 conductor wiring and no wax potting...any more suggestions?

sweet... but in case I wanted something a little pricier... somewhere between duncan and knuckle quality perhaps... would any of you have any more suggestions? Is there a rio grande or a fralin or somthing that anyone raves about?

If you're in the US, you can get BKPs humbuckers for about 130 bucks a piece on their direct website. I heard that if you buy from a dealer in the US you're looking at 200-300. Fralins are about $120.

Mr Vol. Knob raves about Reed James pickups, a "friend" in USA tested both and said: R.J. are better than Seymour Duncan, but BKP is a little better than it...
Not sure if it's cheaper or not...

+1 on buying thru BKP website...

ok, ok... the bare knuckles looked real pricey, but I was too retarded to go and do the currency conversion. $130... sounds about right. Thanks guys!
