which CNC router?

^that's all i was stating

forgive me if i got argumentative. if you spent time on a mill or lathe you would know about backlash and the planning to keep things acurate, also for the purposes of building a guitar the diy routers are plenty accurate you just need to know thebest way to approach things.

endmills can work but care must be taken by the operator especially if you are cutting ebony or something similar. cb said there are better ways, i mearly brought up some reasons that it is not ideal.

edit: it may be better to cut with an even smaller mill than the slot size and broaden the slot. experiment to see if climbing cuts or convetional cuts give less tear out and stick to one. but if you use a smaller mill expect to break a few.

I'll let you do the experimenting, I have done it. I'm done here, I was just tryin to help a guy out thats all

Anybody have a serious question PM me, I'm not gonna argue the merrits of slot cutting here with an audience of nay sayers, cuz i have done it, whereas others are talking theory and all the problems....

If you want slots cut correctly, gang saw is the only game in down, although... you can do it with the right jig, a lot of care, with a single blade rather than a gang of 21, 22, etc.  Takes a lot more time, a lot more care.  If you're only making a few boards... sure why not.  If you're going into production, gang it is.

I've seen the machine Ovation uses to radius fretboards, and... its remarkably similar to Warmoth's variable machine (from the pictures I've seen here online).  I dunno if they still have those pictures on the Warmoth site... but they're a drool to look at.
