Where White Man Went Wrong

What the frak is going on with these boards?  There's no possible rational way that anyone should have been offended over the OP's comic.  It's not super accurate or insanely funny, but RELAX.  I'm part Navaho and part Iroquois.  That was making fun of the European in me, and if any of you found that insulting to native peoples, I don't see how you can find any happiness in life at all.  The world, by nature, is not fair and does not (and should not) take the time to make sure every statement ever made makes everyone feel fuzzy and warm.  I'm not even talking about the artist's intent.  I don't see any truth or logic in the argument for the comic being insulting or degrading.  Obviously, those few words don't encapsulate the entirety of every native person, and they also don't ring true for every "white man" either.

I hope Tony was kidding, honestly.  If not, I swear my comments are coming from a place of love and brotherhood.

Like I've suggested before to all:  stop taking yourself, your ethnicity, your race, whatever ... so g-damn seriously

And if you live in America, then call yourself an American... like the rest of us do.  What, you think

I try, but Luke keeps on pointing out that I am not a proper american. My child is american, does that make me a little bit american?

No worries mate - I only pick on Canadians (being from growing up in Minnesota and all; which is pretty much a Canadian province).

The problem with the dutch is.. they always try to walk it in.

Also marko's son isn't a Little American. He's a beast of a child, 20 feet tall.

+1.

I saw a Russel Peters special on Comedy Central once. EVERY ONE OF HIS JOKES was about race. And I mean EVERY LAST ONE.
I got 20 minutes into his hour long performance, and I got tired of it.

is he the Indian/Canadian guy? I actually thought he was funny, and I know several Asian persons who think he's hilarious. apparently he 'targets' Asian stereotypes a lot..

Yep.

It's funny for a little while, but after a few jokes, it gets ridiculous to me. Tell jokes about something else for a while! :dontknow:

Thats why i stick to stand up routines from comedians like Steven Wright and Mike Birbiglia

You 'Mericans sure do love that flag of yours, eh? I made sure to add the "eh?" especially for SL, since he seems to have something against us Canadians. :laughing7:

That dude in front of the flag, who looks like he's 26? Yeah.. he's just a month or so over 4... he's 80 feet tall.

Anyone remember those old SNL "Bill Brasky" sketches?  :laughing7:

Your moose have no powers against the US of A.

I've flown the flag outside my house for years, but I actually take it down when it rains and at night, so it's up about twice a year here in Western WA.  I seriously considered stopping a few years back due to all the propaganda surrounding the Afghan/Iraq conflicts, but I remembered something important.  This nation was founded on the vast majority sitting back lazy and scared while true daughters and sons of liberty carved what freedoms we have out of whatever they were given.  So, proud of the flag?  Nah.  For me, it's a discipline of respect for the strength it takes to live in a state of liberty.  It's not a tshirt to get drunk in, or a bumper sticker to be part of Team America.  It's blood and hope and unity.  Burn it, hate it, whatever.  I get up at 6am and check the weather every day, and I thank God that I'm able to carve out such a life for myself and my family.

Many places, but primarily Brooklyn Center.  Park Center High 1987 (somewhat high).  And yes, you're old.  :laughing7:

I have a pretty good sense of humor, and in my opinion, a comedian isn't supposed to just curse and enforce stereotypes. I can't stand it when I see someone get on stage and say, "The people from this culture all do this. Parents of this race all treat their kids this way. I do this because I'm this ethnicity." It's ignorant, disrespectful, and counterproductive.

I really have no tolerance for those emails old people forward to each other with poorly written works of fiction and loosely hidden political agendas. It's moronic bigotry posing as jokes, and I think the original post fits that description.
