Someone would have us believe this is a good deal:

Given the ghastly agglomeration of gray sludge on the body, despite its rareness, it looks a lot more like purchasing someone else's eff-up than a deal for a guitar and a neck. Maybe it's never been assembled, but who cares, if you still need to rewind to the beginning by sanding and/or stripping aggressively?
Or, alternatively, maybe it was originally finished and this guy (or his predecessor in interest) stripped the body hoping to do something neat with it - and then found it much harder or time consuming than one would have hoped. Anyway, feast your eyes:
