What's your opinion? Bass on Top or Bottom on a double neck?

So I'm going to pull the trigger and start a double neck project here in a few weeks. The question is, do I put the bass on the top, or the six-string guitar? Most of these that I've seen, it was usually the bass on the top, but some of the players I like the most (Rutherford, Dunn) put their bass neck on the bottom.

So I figured I'd see what the good folks here have to say about it.

So what do you all think? Bass on the top? Or Bass on the Bottom? I'm primarily a bass player, if that matters.

Being a guitar player, I'd probably think of the bass as an accessory, so I'd put it on the bottom. But, what little experience I have with the bass, I know it's  lot more work than it looks like, so I might want it on the top to get better muscle control/duration. Tough call.

I mentioned bass on top so that the neck that would get the most use is higher up as bass is often played in a higher position relative to the body than a guitar often is.

The deciding factor, of course, has to be what would Geddy do when playing Xanadu  :)

Here's my opinion - make it the way the client wants. If it's for you - the same.

There is no advantage to putting one over the other - make the tool fit the player's wishes.

For me I play bass higher up and more of an upright angle. So I put it on top, but that’s me.

Just as a matter of geometry, fretting closer to the nut requires a longer reach on the bass, so if it's slung lower, you'll be reaching even farther.  If the player has short arms, that condition weighs in favor of the bass on top.

This is the d-neck i use when do my public performances
