What's the difference between a Mustang neck and a Strat neck?  Just wondering.

Way I understand it is that Strat necks are 25.5" scale, and Mustang necks are 24" scale.

Yes, that's about it; scale length. You cannot interchange those two necks on the same body. The bridge location needs to be different for each one.

So could someone get a strat neck and install it on a mustang body with no bridge routing and just DIY on the bridge location?

I've thought about that... or, really, I've thought about a mustang neck on a tele body with a relocated bridge.
