what tele pickups to get that clean sound?

Hello all,

I'm building a warmoth tele for fusion/jazz/rock type of music.
swamp ash body, maple neck

I'm looking for that kind of sound :

I'd describe it as : well defined, thigh bass, singing highs and mids, medium output ( the usual 'jazz' pickups usually do not have enough batboy feel in them for me : i prefer les paul pickups to classic 57 in my ES 335 ), open sounding, very articulate.

I'm considering bare knuckles (blackguard 50, but isn't that too low output, brown sugar, but aren't they too 'rock' sounding) fenders (my teacher has an american standard tele which sounds great according to me, but what are the fender pickups in there? noiseless? vintage? texas special? ), or other brands.

I'm waiting for thoughts and suggestions..

I would talk to Ken (TroubledTreble round these parts) at Roadhouse Pickups and see what he suggests.  Busy guy, but if you know the sound you want, he is quite good at making pickups that do the trick.  Well priced, hand made, and excellent quality builds by a pretty cool guy.

Another option is to call Lindy Fralin , he makes exquisite pickups and was able to wind a set to exactly what I wanted.

I have a set of his tele roadhouse specials in my Black Dog tele and I really, really, love them.  They are among my top three favorite pickups.  Plus, as Patrick mentioned, if there is a particular sound you are looking for, he can hook you up.  :icon_thumright:

Could I suggest the Wilde Pickups by Bill Lawrence with the Q Filter added to the tone pot to give greater clarity to the tone? That would certainly be clean.
