What neck to go with Swamp Ash Deluxe 5 Jazz?

Hello,

I am in the middle of planning a deluxe jazz 5 build. I will be opting for a swamp ash body with a zebra wood top. I am currently undecided on what neck I want. I know want a wenge fingerboard, but As swamp ash sits in the middle of warm and bright, do I go for something with more warmth like Goncalo ales, or something brighter like Wenge? For a 5 string, do I want more warmth to bring to bring out the lows in the B?

I love the sound of my swamp ash Warwick with Wenge / Wenge neck, but only played the 4 string and im not sure how a 5 string with this combo would sound.

I'm a bit lost with this, so in need of guidance. Oh and please tell me if I'm over thinking this!

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Yea it will be fretted. Never thought about Wenge for a fretless. I do like the feel of wenge, don't have an experience with Goncalo alves. Does anyone?

I plan on having a peg head laminate no match the zebra wood body top. :)

That sounds cool! I would go all wenge, keep the neck simple(aside from the laminate).

You may want to think about no inlays for a clean, simple, look.

I did think about no inlays, but I also thought about having pearloid blocks! Are you not keen on the peg head laminate?
