What in tarnation...

Just so I'm clear as well.  I wasn't calling any one person out.  It just seemed like an awful lot of negativity regarding someone's creation on this thread from a group that seems to pride itself so much on the creativity of it's members.  I mean, realistically.. many of us here don't really "create" that much of anything.  We just assemble and finish parts that were already built, and then sit back and pat each other on the back for our "creations".  I'm just as guilty about doing this as anyone, but I know darn well that I'm not a guitar "builder".  Assembler, yes.. Builder, no.  I don't know the first thing about actually building a guitar, so I try not to bust the chops of the ones that can.

With that said and just playing "Devil's Advocate" here.. but did I miss a link or something that outlines the build?  Everyone here is assuming the mass of this guitar is akin to the density of a black hole..  For all we know, this guitar could be some kind of hollow body and/or chambered build constructed of the lightest possible wood that could be sourced.  It's a given that double necks are heavy by nature, but Warmoth claims a 25% reduction in weight for a chambered Strat body vs. its solid counterpart so do you think it might be possible that the builder took something like into account when designing it?

I haven't tried a Variax so I can't say for sure, but my understanding is that's their raison d'etre and there's still no joy. I'm not surprised. The LP's design/construction is unique and apparently necessary to get it's particularly identifiable character.

Agreed, but to the average listener, and not the cork sniffing guitar players such as we, it usually passes the blindfold test.

That's not to say LP's can't be reproduced. I have and know others who have reproductions that would pass "blindfold" tests all day, and are just as uncomfortable to play :icon_biggrin:

I like it. I would say it needs rear routing. Cool lam top but what the hey.

Lam top would be difficult as there's a transition from a carved top to a flat top... :dontknow:
