I used to be all about the blue 1.0 mm star picks

now I'm becoming a jazz III convert.

Funny! I was all about the Jazz IIIs for a few years, and switched over to the orange Tortex .60mms. Jazz III picks are awesome, for sure.

this is what I keep sitting around (all dunlop)

Nylon standard
.73
.88
1.0
2mm Lexan Stubby

I use the picks growing on the end of my fingers! I rarely loose them.

Yeah, I use those a lot, too.  I mean, the ones on MY fingers.  I don't want your claws on my guitar.

;)

I have a heavy right hand and a long history of string breakage but Graphtech string savers have pretty much changed my life. Still, I got in the habit of using Dunlop nylon .88  because it has just enough flex that I don't break strings as often. I used Fender Heavy for a number of years but would wear a sharp edge and them fast, carnage would soon follow.

Going to get my hands on some dunlop Stubby picks, cant remember what size i was getting on with most, think the 2.0mm or whichever is the dark translucent purple.

Just seems to work better than (oxymoron alert) thick thin picks that aren't molded like the stubbys are.

I'm not much of a pick player, simply cause the fingers feel so natural to me  :laughing7:
But after doing a AC/DC song rampage for no reason, i feel like improving my picking technique and getting some more of the pick bite from my warmoth  :party07:

ask for Bert. SUPER service... tell 'em that I sent yah.

I use the Dunlop Jazz III XL. It's got the sharp tip like the Jazz III but it's the size of a regular pick.

Unless I've missed it, I'm surprised no one has mentioned V-Picks or Gravity Picks. I tried both and am currently using - and pretty happy with - the thin Classic shape that Gravity makes. Same for electric and acoustic except on acoustic I use the larger size. The only thing I don't like is a little bit of "chirp" on the electric, but it doesn't really come through the amp, so it's kind of a non-issue. I've tried almost all the usual suspects - Fenders, Jazz tortex, Dunlop, Pickboys, etc etc. I like the nice positive attack of the Gravity acrylic pick.

Actually, I'm talking myself into blowing $35 on a Bluechip pick. If I do I'll let you know what I find.

The v picks are very interesting, and I use their slides exclusively. Could not get on with the picks though. Never found a thickness that worked for me.  And if you drop one on a stage - its gone! :o

Mayfly: FYI V-Picks makes a lot of their picks in colors - usually translucent red, which is pretty easy to see if you drop it.

This is something I have to revisit--I started out with the celluloid FirstAct cheapies you could get at Walmart, and later tinkered with Dunlop and Fender picks, and even tried using a couple of train-flattened pennies. Those, actually, had a great attack on them, but if you had a sharp spot on them, they could slice a thin-gauge high E string if you were dopey about it. I should also experiment with thinner picks as well--when I was starting out, I'd always get the firmest, hardest thing I could find, thinking that was how it was to be done. I even tried to emulate Mark Knopfler and Albert Collins for a time, 'til I later found out that I'll never be even close to Mark or the Iceman.

Hey! our custom guitar picks came in!

These are made of the same material as dunlop tortex picks (specifically the orange ones) and they feel exactly the same!  I love them.

I'm such an egoist  :headbang:

So... ummm.... where's mine? I got some Roadhouse picks, but no Cornflower picks. I'm not sure I can carry on...
