What does 8 or 4 Ohms mean?

Now picture those 8 monks sitting in a room.  There are two windows and you are standing outside .... now in another room there are 8 monks but only one opening ... and you hear the sound coming out ... you'll ....

Well ... following it to its logically conclusion ....

The monks in the room with two windows would be like speakers wired in parrallel, that would be 4 ohms.

The monks in the room with one window would be like a series circuit, all the energy would be coming thru one hole, hence it would be 8 ohms.
