For reasons I can't tell I want to know what you guys want to see in a singlecut. A high quality singlecut guitar. Does it have to have a solid body? does it have to have a

well.

you get the idea. Tell me what you wanna see in a SINGLECUT guitar.

PS. and I'm not talking about telecasters!!

multiple routing options so you could put the pickup switch somewhere other than the traditional les paul location.

Every one I've ever played or owned that wasn't an acoustic, what I wanted most was a horn to properly locate the strap. But I don't suppose that's the answer you were lookinjg for.

where would you rather have the switch?

and I don't get it AT ALL about the strap button.

I'm joking (mostly) - if it had a properly located strap button, it wouldnt be a single cut guitar (or else would join the body at the 12th fret - the other factor many acoustics have in their favor wrt balance)

No neck dive.
Not too heavy overall.
Knobs not too close to the bridge (I'm looking at you, PRS and ESP.)
Not a trapeze tailpiece. Actually, I'd prefer a wraparound bridge to a TOM.
A forearm cutaway makes any guitar much nicer to play but looks pretty weird on a LP type so I'm not sure about that.

I'm such a Mtn Dew addict that I've joked the Pepsi distributor has asked me to give them 30 days notice before moving so they can make the proper adjustments to their inventory levels and routes. By "not telling us" I think it's safe to say thats pretty much what happened here. :)

Rest assured it will probably have all the standard bridge options which fit.

well, i guess you could say i don't have the most controlled (or elegant) playing style, so i constantly hit the switch by accident. i'd prefer it near the four knobs, like on an SG.

When I think single cut, I think solid body, it's got to balance on the strap with no neck dive. Carved top. All the routing options made available. Bolt on, set neck or neck thru options. Hard tale standard, Floyd optional. Of course mahogany body for me (neck wood optional). It's got feel solidly build.

What about black korina... :icon_scratch:

no neck dive is a given, as well as multiple pickup options. fore arm contour is a nice idea and I know a way to implement that in a singlecut guitar while maintaining the carved top. mahogany is standard, korina will/may be a small upcharge (like 10$ or so?). floyd optional. tele bridge plus tele singles in an alder or ash body optional. same for strat setup in alder or ash... bolt on or glued in, depending on what the idea and setup of course.

c'mon guys, give me a challenge. ;)

No, no, no, I said MAHOGANY.  :toothy11:

Add a tummy cut and contoured heel.

Also get neck angle correct so the bridge and tail piece are closer to the body, not up on stilts like a circus clown. I don't like the way some of the LPs have the bridge high on the mounting post to match the neck angle, allows it to move too much which can cause tuning stability issues. Maybe an option for recessed TOM and string-thru would be nice.

Get the bridge down into the body is a good idea. So is minimizing the neck angle (flip side of the same coin, different goals). So is minimizing neck dive. But if you go fixing the shortcomings of the design willy nilly it won't be the guitar you're trying to emulate any longer.  I like the idea of an option for CT with flatmount bridge (that could be recessed too since the curvature is the reason W doesn't offer it. (Actually I think an inlaid flatmount would be kinda cool in a DIY no minutia spared build)

At some point you're really messing with the reasons people want an LP clone in the first place. Just come up with some not too dorky variation on cutaway and call it a day.  The other bits of the outline are  as simple as mathematically possible curves.

at one point it's just about the look, a visual homage to an original. but lower bridge is also on my list :)
