What are all the neck dimensions?

Guys can you tell me what the lengths are for some of these other necks, i.e. baritone, bass, 7-string, 5-string bass, etc... I'm starting to think about how to handle all the neck options for my guitar configurator tool. Kinda need to know what all the variables are:

Guitar

• Gibson scale = 24.75"
• Fender scale = 25.25"
• 24 fret conv = Fender scale + ??? inches
• baritone = ?
• 7 string = ?

Bass

• ???

For basses:

Standard (long scale) bass is 34". (all Warmoths except Warmoth Short Scale series, Bass6 series and Gecko's)

"Medium scale" is 32". (Warmoth Short Scale series)

"Short scale" (and Bass VI) is 30" (Warmoth Short Scale series and Bass 6 series)

Gecko's (and many other non-Warmoth 5 and 6 strings) are 35".

There are also other variations (33", 36", etc.) used by some manufacturers.

Whoa... okay HUM... so if you were designing a guitar with an online tool, would you expect a dropdown menu with all the neck options by name and then the tool draws the right scale?  Or would you expect to be able to specify the exact dimensions yourself?

The baritone scale is 28 5/8"
The Seven string scale is 25"

The 24 fret necks are still 25.5" scale, they just extend a bit.

Both options really. It's just like the colours where it is cool to be able to make a special hue but also rather nice to be able to just pick "Fiesta Red".

When you look at other brands than Warmoth there are a plethora of scales. Most PRS guitars are 25". Gibson usually go by 24,75" but they do sometimes make some 24,5". And if you go Gretsch and and other jazzbox-guitars they have many different scales.

And baritones are also very different depending on the brand.

And then there are fanned frets.  :evil4:

Hum... okay, as always, many ways to handle this. I'm big on usability so I'll try to employ the most advantageous solution... a good challenge. Thank you for all the feedback and keep posting more if it adds to the wisdom.

I plan to have guitars and basses integrated here. There won't be any rules saying you can't display a guitar body and a bass neck or a guitar neck on a bass body. I'll just attempt to be as accurate as possible as far as scale.

Okay in case you're curious, I have the basics of this underway. I added 24.75, 25.5 and 28.625 scales.  To get it into demo mode, I adjusted the 24 and 28 scales by eyeball. They are not accurate but they demonstrate where this can go. You have to move the body and hardware down when switching to the 28, but you get that.

Some of the wood options don't have the best images yet, but most do. Try the Bocote or Zircote and adjust the grain. Very cool.

You may be working too hard.

If you get into baritone scales, it's noticeable. But, the difference between the typical range of 24.5" to 25.5" is only an inch and isn't something you can see even in real life, let alone an image on a typical monitor. I have examples here within that range and I have to measure them to remind myself what they are because you can't tell by looking.
