WGD - why so heavy??

Is there some Garcian law that forbids the use of light weight wood with these bodies?  :icon_scratch:

Otherwise, I think these are kinda cool looking whenever I can get my mind not to see it as a pig's head profile.

I think that's just because of the woods used in the in-stock examples.  I'm sure most solid bodies with the same wood combos + finish will weigh about the same.

I personally think the WGD looks rad, and if I had the cash to spare, I'd probably grab one of those in stock WGDs (with those gorgeous tops!) before most other bodies in stock, but it'd hardly be my first choice.  I suspect a lot of folks would feel the same.

BAM!  That's it, right there.  I have a WGD with an awesome-looking one-piece BK body.  But the thing weighs twice as much as an old Les Paul Custom.  I never play it because it is so freakin' heavy.  I actually ordered another body made of swamp ash with a camphor burl top.  I just need time to move the neck over, install the hardware, and wire it.  The new body is about half the weight of the old one.

It would be awesome if Warmoth offered the WGD with chambering, but, alas...

Isn't it based on Jerry's shape?  By the time all the brass hardware and extract gizmos were added to his, it weighed 14 lbs.  It stands to reason a fan of that body shape is fan of his, and wouldn't mind the weight.
