Any one use the BE? Need a dark colored neck..I think the BE will have smaller pores for a smoother finish. Love them both only need one. Going on a thinline Tele with p90s. Will do a burnished finish. How are the relative weights?

They're both fairly heavy woods, but the Brazilian is probably the heavier of the two on average. They both feel fantastic and play really fast, although the Brazilian has a much tighter grain, so you're less likely to end up with a gunked-up neck.

I have one of each. No finish or burnishing or anything on either one and I don't think I would want it. I think the Brazilian Ebony feels slightly better, it's definitely more dense, harder and has tighter pores. The only drawback for me is it tends to make the guitar want to nose dive. I would highly recommend either one over almost any other neck material I've tried.

I went Wenge and then went to the Lollar’s pick up store and exhausted the rest of my budget. :turtle:

one nice thing about nice stuff is i never have to be sorry....there was someone that thought i should be...but she is gone now. I decided to get the Brazillian ebony on my next project. they had a nice medium dark in 59 rb ....so it's on the way as well. I got a lollar J street tele bridge and a lollar soap bar for the chambered black korina tele.

I just picked up a Brazilian ebony bass neck from the Showcase. Arrived yesterday. Holy crap is that a nice looking/feeling neck! Can't wait to build it up.
(Warmoth swamp ash P-Bass body, Gotoh bridge, Lindy Fralin pickup.)

Yes they are nice and I’m glad I got it......but the guitar it’s on is nick named “ Lead Neck”  the Brazilian ebony weighs about half again that of a Wenge in the same profile. It feels great to play but is undeniably heavy. It brings a sweet note to all the guitars I’ve had it on......I switch necks a lot trying different combinations.

Man, no kidding about "harder" ...I just drilled the pilot holes for the Schaller tuning machine screws into this Brazilian Ebony neck, and *completely* destroyed this generic wood drillbit!
