Well prepped as well as I can for Irma

so... what's goin' on?
Well no power, iffy water, cell towers down and bad reception.  Have to drive away to get coverage.  The home faired well. Only lost the chimney cap.  Lots of neighbors tree debris. Already cleaned that up and remediated the cap. Tossed all the food today and 7/8 packed to head to England tomorrow, airport willing.  Spent the last hour looking for ice to no avail as I'd like a nice adult beverage tonight. Ended up our highest gusts were at 100.  Explains the lack of damage.  The chimney cap was already rusted and came off easy.

I was lucky enough to have minimum property damage (just a down fence panel and some tree limbs) and currently have power.

Good to hear you both came through it with little damage. Many weren't that fortunate.

And we have Storm Aileen in the UK

And then onto part of Europe, no where near as strong as Irma though but bad enough.

Those high winds can take you by surprise, being more or less invisible. No chance to avoid them.

I got blown off an expressway once, and it wasn't even high winds like you're seeing there. But, it was icy so there wasn't much holding me in place, plus it was a smaller truck. Scary stuff, in any event. Luckily, I had 4 wheel drive and didn't take any real damage, so I was able drive out of it.
