I've wanted to build a guitar for about 15 years and I just ordered a Soloist body. I plan on building a hotrod, so it's only going to get a single humbucker and a floydrose trem. I'm hoping to use an old Ibanez RG neck that I have that's scalloped from 12 up. I have a 70 Chevelle that I restored and I'm planning on painting the guitar to match; black with charcoal skunkstripes. I'm not sure about the pickup, but I'll probably get a Lindy Fralin. I've got a set in my 73 Les Paul and I love the sound.

Thanks for the site and I hope to learn alot more...

Welcome, and I hate to put this to you.  Is your Ibanez neck going to fit the body route for the neck?  I don't know if the numbers match up.  Does an Ibanez neck fit a Fender route?  Otherwise, sounds like a hot build.

Well that sounds like a shredding machine!  Did you get the contoured heel?

Fralin seems like a strange choice for a Superstrat... do you play many different styles, or just metal?

I was thinking the same thing, RG necks are usually quite a bit different from a strat type neck...... :dontknow:

Sounds like a cool build tho it it all fits..... :icon_thumright:

I'm pretty sure that the old style RG necks, which have a long overhang for the top frets, will fit OK.
The recent ones are different and I don't think they would fit.

If you had the RG neck on a Fender body before, then it should fit OK  :cool01:

I've got the Fralins and Jimmy Page wiring in my LP and love them. I'm kinda trying to copy the frankenstrat and he used a PAF off a 335. I'm sure it's rewound, so I'm thinking that Lindy can make me a hotrod '59 PAF....

The Tele is a Mexican squire and the neck was fine so I'm hoping it'll fit. It's from a basic RG that I had in the early 90's...

I'll post pics when I get it painted and the neck mocked up.

The Ibanez necks that were pre-AANJ should fit. Many early RGs had a so-called "square heel" neck that was really just a Fender style. As long as the neck bolts aren't in an offset pattern indicating the AANJ, it should work.
