wax - noob question

Does anyone ever use paraffin wax on raw necks or fingerboards?  I've never heard of it, but why not... people use shoe polish on raw wood, too.

Can't say that I have, but the exotic wood scraps I get at Woodcraft all come sealed in wax.  It doesn't seem to penetrate the wood much, but protects well and would be easy enough to remove.  My 4 year old bocote nut knocker is still coated, and aside from light indentations its immaculate.

Candle wax.

Just like they did in the Old West, way back when the first Strats came off the assembly line.

...what?

LOL that'll teach me to skim-read the post... thought you were asking 'bout wax for neck screws etc...

The Old West thing was a joke, the candle wax wasn't... as far as screws go.

Now, where's my trifocals...?

Elderly Instruments recommends and uses Howard's Feed 'n' Wax, beeswax and orange oil. I used up a little jug in four years now I have a big jug. Smells nice, works fine.

For oil finished bodies I use good old Johnson's Floor Paste Wax.

I read about this and it leaves a clean shine that seems to help
harden and protect the finish.

I don't on walking on the body, but it's nice to know it's waxed like I could... :laughing7:
