I think it's great you're building a Flying V. I think it's great you're using Carvin parts. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not sure if your Carvin neck will actually work however. Aren't they 25" scale? If I understand Warmoth correctly, their 25.5" or 24.75" necks will work with your bridge placement. I'm not sure your Carvin neck will intonate properly.

Anyone else see a potential problem here, or am I way off base?

No, they're standard scale. Fender standard, I mean. 25.5"

I have one here that I had on a Fender Strat for a while, and it's a fine piece of work. They don't offer any real options on things - they are what they are - but they're nice if you accept that. Ebony over Maple, jumbo frets that are well-finished, graphite nuts. Can't go wrong, really, if you want a well-made bright neck. Looking at their site, it appears you have to cut your own headstocks now (they used to come with a Carvin-designed shape), but all the above can be had for $160 in the box, out the door. Pretty good deal for the DIY kind of person. You certainly couldn't come up with anything as nice on your own for that kind of money and in that amount of time.

If you dig into Carvin's builder, Cagey, you'll find a few more options - all the Carvin headstock shapes are available as part of the base price, and you can upgrade to mahogany, walnut, various sandwiches, I forget what else, and you can also get a birdseye maple or rosewood fingerboard, a variety of inlays, and different fretboard radii (10", 12" (standard), and 14", if memory serves), various fret sizes in nickel/silver or stainless steel.  It's not the embarrassment of riches you find at Warmoth, but it's not exactly crap, and they do offer some nifty stuff that you cannot get from the Big W.  Plus, like the Big W's wares, they're bulletproof in terms of build quality.

Also, they're all angled so you never have to decide whether to gamble on leaving the string trees out of your recipe.  Although I know your own position (which aligns with mine) is to leave'em out.

I saw a link to go to a builder, but it wouldn't take me there. Might be some security thing on my computer - it's locked down squeaky tight. If they have some server-side spyware or cross-site scripting thing going on, or any of a variety of more pedestrian exploits running I wouldn't be able to get past without going to some trouble. It's a price I pay for not running a gamer's OS like Windows. I miss out on a lot of fun and don't get to spend my days recovering from it <grin>

But, I know they offer a lot of options on the rest of their stuff, so it wouldn't surprise me to see it on the necks. I've been watching those guys and getting their catalogs for about 100 years now, pretty much ever since they started in business. Lusty stuff, and well done by all appearances. I've bought some things from them, but no complete guitars, although the ones I've seen/played have been very impressive.

I like this headstock of Carvin, might be the only thing on his full line that I think is pretty :laughing7:

Going to be a killer V :evil4:

Now that I took the time to check Carvin's site I know my error. Their own guitars are 25" scale, but their parts necks are 25.5" I can tell my Carvin is slightly longer than Gibson scale, but I didn't think it was 25.5.

The Carvin necks do fit the Warmoth bodies. this is actually my second build with this combination.
You can get many combos of wood and headstock shapes, even a blank.
I couldn't get into the offset V that carvin offered so I'm doing the build the way I want it. The only compromise is the scale length. I prefere the 25" scale but the 251/2' will work.

Actually it's their neck-thru and set neck guitars are 25" (mostly) and their bolt-on necks are 25.5".
