recently bought a vintage strat body and vintage modern neck but not at the same time. both were made with standard 4 bolt holes. it fits beautifully. my plan was to get the neck on, clamp it, double check the bolt holes line up, wax the screws and secure them. when a neck and body are drilled in the same manner, does this align the neck left to right on its own, or does that need to be checked by measurement on the top side and tweaked to the same measurement? thanks in advance-P

You might get lucky and it will align.

But you ideally want to put either both E strings on and check alignment or use some strong thick thread to simulate the lie of the outer strings. You can then visually see if you need to give the neck a nudge one way or the other before the final tightening. It just needs to be snug and not overtightened that said.
