...I wonder what would happen if Warmoth went public.

Worlds collide. It becomes management by committee. Everything goes straight to hell at terminal velocity.

It is what it is because it has a benevolent dictator. Make it public, and it'll turn to crap so fast it'll open new fields of study in biology.
+1
Satisfying shareholders is much different than satisfying customers.

+1 on the ownership. While I do invest, from the flip side (POV of the corporation) - I think shareholders are just leaches that drain profits from a corporation. It is reasonable to expect return on your investment, and that is why loaning money is expected to return interest, but whenever you borrow money you have to pay the leaches.  A dollar ALWAYS goes further than a dollar minus interest.

Would you want something formal like that or would you have more fun with folks getting together somewhere with your builds and swap ideas, try out gear, etc.....

Did I just hear Wyliee offer us a tour of the plant? I'd be in for that and a jam as well. Throw in some beer and I'm definitely in.
:occasion14:

It would cost them too much just to beef up security with a bunch of us in there.

HEY! Quit using the CNC machine, and YOU! Get away from that koa!

He's gone through the list before.  Insurance, the actual facility's space (and now there's 2), and it would slow down production.

That was definitely part of my question.  But I would also like to discuss the general concept a bit further.  Over on TalkBass, they have regular socials around the world.  The gatherings are entirely member driven and organized.  Most often they will get together in a club and bring out their gear for a big show and tell day. (Along with plenty of beer.)

It would be cool if UW members wanted to do that.

The problem is that we're a very small and geographically-diverse forum. :dontknow:

I'm on the west coast and would be willing to travel a bit for a weekend jam/beer fest. I think the biggest question would be amps really. Not too difficult to bring a guitar along on a plane, after all.

I've seen GTGs like this on other sites too. One of the members of the Carvin forum has a yearly one here in San Diego.

Time and place TBD, but I'd be interested.

Is anybody else on this forum from the Austin area?  Anyone want todo a regional thing in Austin?
