Warmoth QM-Topped Soloist

I agree. Nice work. I'm also a fan of the "no inlay" look. I've found on my own instruments that I don't miss them at all. The side markers are plenty.

Thanks guys, appreciate the kind words.

I think the no-inlay option looks sooo good. I am hoping that it won't mess me up, but from my initial doodlings I don't think it is going to.

I need to get some solder to get the battery box working, then figure out a jack plate and I'll get to fire this thing up.

The only thing I am not happy about is the scratches in the top. You can really only see them if you are staring at the top with some pretty bright lights on it, but I wish I had been a little less heavy-handed. Honestly though, if that is my only complaint, I will be stoked. This thing is supposed to be my beater after all.

I worried about it on my first one, but found it takes no time at all to adjust. The side markers are plenty indication enough of where you are. Your peripheral vision will serve you well. The reward is a clean fretboard, which is quite satisfying.

I'll second that. My classical has side only so I got used to it. My electric has none now also and I don't even notice. I always just look at the top or side anyway and it is plenty!

My first no-inlay board was for Bete Noire, and I didn't even think about it - the neck was so nice, I just grabbed it, and figured I'd adapt.  I didn't even have to adapt - turns out once you've been playing for a few years it's mostly muscle memory anyway.

Perzactly. It's no hardship at all.

One of these days, I gotta build Son of Bête Noire. Every time I see that thing, I get all lusty.

Go for it, Kevin - it's an itch worth scratching.  If you feel like duplicating it, the wiring scheme is quite usable, as well, which is more than I can say for a lot of the hare-brained wiring ideas I see coming down the pike.

4-way switch:

Bridge
Bridge+neck series
Bridge+neck parallel
Neck

Plus the bridge pup has the coil tap, yielding three more sounds for all positions where the bridge pickup is engaged.

And now - permit me to veer back on topic by saying that neck is very much the right fit for that body.  Great work,rapfohl09.
