Interesting swarfrat brought up English and dialects. A lot of what people think passes for English, the Queens English, and/or received pronunciation see the first video is further away from Old and Middle English than dialects are.
In the second video which is talking about Shakespeare productions in English closer to how it was spoken in the time of Shakespeare is closer to a lot of so-called modern dialects. To me, Shakespeare comes alive far more in the original dialects.
Being brought up in the North East of England, I am familiar with quite a number of dialects in addition to modern English, and also I speak some Dutch. Interestingly some Dutch words are close to some words in Northern dialect and older English. But I can see how some may not understand it at all.

Now all I need to do is work on a plan for all English speakers who are not native to England to pay us a licensing fee :toothy10:
