1. So im going to build a explorer with a solid mahogany body, flame maple top and a cherry burst finish. I want to make a flame maple neck with the cherry burst finish and a solid black finish on the peg face. Is it possible to make the neck like so because I have not found anything like it on the website, and is there an option for a set in neck or can I set in the neck myself?

2. when buying pots do you have to buy certain pots for tone and volume or is it the way you wire it because I was lookin at the CTS 500k pots and none of them said if they were tone or volume but other ones did

You did not specify what you were doing with the wiring, but in most cases, both volume and tone controls call for pots of the same value, taper, wattage rating and mechanical specs.

well im just going to use 2 gibson 490r's a 3 way toggle switch and 1 tone and 2 volume knobs, thats pretty much what I know because this is my first build and I need some help so., and im looking for my explorer to be just like the Gibson Explorer, any advice on how I should wire it?

As far as the question re: the neck, Warmoth only offers bolt-on necks, not set ones, and don't attach them to the body, though when you order a neck and body at the same time they *do* send them to paint together to get the best match possible on the finish(es).

Re: the headstock, they offer both headstock laminates and painted headstocks, but if you're ordering a flame maple neck it'd be a shame IMO to cover the flame on the headstock face with a solid color vs. bursting the headstock as well since you're already doing so on the rest of the neck.  If your intent is to make a complete Gibson clone it won't be quite the same because it's a bolt-on, so I recommend embracing the differences, but I understand wanting what you want.

ya ill get a better pic up and when do they give you the option to match the finish of the body to the neck because I only found it in a little pop up box and can't figure out how to apply it.

Call the order in for the neck and body if you're unsure of the neck finish options and availabilty in the builder.  The Explorer specs Warmoth has are a bit different than Gibson's to accomodate the different neck joint.  There's no set neck option, and simplying glueing in a bolt-on neck does not set it.  This use to confuse me too, there is no volume pot or tone pot, only pots.  They have different values and how you wire them and with or without a capacitor is the difference.

This might be the diagram you want:

okay, does it matter whether you have 2 volume knobs with one tone, or 1 volume with 2 tone because i would rather have 2 tones. Also in all of the pictures ive seen of warmoth's hardtail tom stp they look like the bridge is way far away from the stopping piece, is it true, if it is than how many inches does gibson use to put in their bridge and stopping piece

Just tell them how many holes you want. YOU decide what's gonna be "Volume" and what's gonna be "Tone" when you assemble it and wire it up.

My bad.  I thought 2 vol, 1 tone.  But no, it doesn't matter if you want 1 vol and 2 tones, other than being wired different.
