Warmoth Jam Ten

added both to the mix - this thing is sounding amazing to me!  :headbang:

and there's still two full days to go. To anyone out there that's only done one, if you want to do another, feel free -- just make it different from your other one.

still got time for new people too. :icon_thumright:

So will there be a bunch of different solos from the same soloist?

This may make it way too convoluted, imo.

Wouldn't it be best for each soloist to submit their best / favorite solo?

This way we get the cream of the crop & the track doesn't end up being too long or repetitive.

I don't know - I'm loving it how it is. So far only me, Panthur and djf67 have done more than one, but they're all really different from each other - which is what I was hoping for.

For me that idea was to get a lot of the modes in there, plus anything else that people could come up with. Since there's only a few of us that usually do these things, I see no problem with doing more than one to kind of hit the areas that would be missed.

I know it's an internet cliche these days but EPIC is the only way to describe this jam! hahaha :headbang1:

wow, that's awesome Douhboy!
AWESOME, I say!
Well, if by awesome you mean sloppy & amateurish, then yes, it was pretty damn awesome.  :dontknow:
I agree with the Norwegian Guy, I really like it. From 37s on it's really off the wall (and the hook) lol.
I hated my submission for Jam #9, but I think it's partly to do with not hearing it with a fresh set of ears, all I hear is the frustration of many takes.
Good submission  :icon_thumright:

I thought Doughboy's solo was great too. None of my solos are that interesting. But I don't care - for me it's just about trying to do something cool and having fun with it. There shouldn't be any pressure - - we're not recording our comeback album or something hahaha :laughing7:

Well, this was kind of a "bleh" jam for me. The idea for it was and still is great, I've just had too much other Stuff interfering to really get into music making. I need to practice a whole lot more too.

Mixed: http://www.mediafire.com/?i1a9ju0gwvnn9iw

Solo: http://www.mediafire.com/?3r7ste9ufvinfe5

Hagström Swede bridge pickup - > GR4 patch: Big muff -> Marshall plexi -> Hiwatt cabinet -> Small stone (barely, if at all, noticable in the end)

Edit: Oh, and I just went chromatic and winged it in the end.

Cool - - I've got eveyone in the mix and even made a sort of ending for it thanks to kboman's solo ending.

There's 1 day left but I'm thinking this one is done. If anyone else wants to do solo you better get it in quick. :icon_thumright:

I'm adding a mix of this to my radio station - - right now I'm in the middle of playing nothing but Zappa and related stuff, and this jam reminds me so much of some of Zappa's solos. It's like The Return Of The Son Of Shut Up And Play Yer Guitar Some More hahaha ;)

edit - It just played and it sounded cool as hell (to me anyway). I hope the other guy listening liked it hahaha. :laughing7:

http://www.wfzr.net/radio/playing.php - -- - you need to have Winamp. Pretty sure Windows Media Player won't work. You won't hear the jam though. It won't play again for at least three days - but I'll have a mix online tomorrow anyway.

OK - - I'm done with my mix. :headbang:

Thanks to everyone that played on this. I'm not sure what you will all think, but I think it turned out amazing. I didn't get exactly what I was hoping for, but the result is so cool that I don't mind. Everyone that took a chance and did a solo did a fantastic job. No one should be hard on themselves about what they played. The end result is pretty freakin cool IMO. Each solo takes you into a different musical world, and that IS what I wanted. So for me the experiment is success. :icon_thumright:

Here's the order of players:

GoDrex, djf67, Panthur, djf67, Panthur, djf67, GoDrex, The Norwegian Guy, GoDrex, elfro89, Doughboy, kboman

I did it first come first served, and I happy with it. I actually tried mixing it around so the players would be move evenly distributed, but it didn't sound as good to me.

Another note - In the mix I removed the guitar parts that were part of the backing everyone played along to. I felt that in too many cases they muddied up the mix, and I would listen to the mix both ways and I decided that I liked it better without them. I put them originally to make it easier to hear the notes, so I thought of them as more of a guide anyway- though I did intend to keep them in there.

Cool track. Taking the guitar out was an excellent move. It clears up everything really well.

The bass part kinda reminds me of the same vibe as Yngwie's Black Star.

Who's doing the next Jam Track now that this one has ended?

I love this, really high standard throughout. The addition of the backing guitar in elfro89's take really added to the epic feel, didn't expect that.
I prefer my second attempt, it's more unusual and more interesting. Can't pick favourites out of the others, just goes to show there is a lot of talent on this board (and I'm not talking sexy female 'talent', although I like to think this place is abundant, sorta like a playboys palace with all these 'exotic woods'...  :laughing7:).

Erm I think I tried to call it, but someone else had it? if not, i got dibs  :icon_tongue:  :icon_jokercolor:

i think my favourite is the first solo of the jam! GoDrex, love your playing style mate!

I think everyone did a swell job on this one! Definitely lots of great ideas and things to steal... :evil4:  :icon_jokercolor:

This was truly awesome!

I'm not satisfied with mine though. Lack of sustain kills my solo - but I didn't use any amp - I used a amp simulating program on my computer - and it sucks.
So I guess I'm satisfied after all.

Great job guys!

I had this problem as well, since I use an amp modulator program as well. To remedy this, I run a compressor before I plug in & it solves the sustain problem.
