Ok this time around I wanted to try an something a little different and also do a kind of experiment - just to see what happens. Will it sound cool or be a train wreck? Only one way to find out. :laughing7:
Usually in these jams you're a bit restrained by the harmony of the chords used in the backing track. I wanted to break free of that just for the hell of it and let everyone chose what scale or harmonic climate they'd like to solo in - within some constraints.
This backing has no chords - only two notes (F# and E). So basically, for this experiment, you're free to use any scale you want that has those notes in it:
E major scale
G major scale (might not sound good due to the F# being a diminished chord, but you're free to go for it)
A major scale (this has the same notes as F# minor)
B Major scale
D Major scale (or D major with a #5th - - like a B harmonic minor)
you can try some pentatonic scales or blues scales - or go nuts and play chromatically or use the whole tone scales
or go here and put in your own F# and E chords and try out some exotic scale:

Another idea is to use a different scale over each backing track note. That could potentially add some scale(s) I haven't mentioned.
It's up to you if you want to be really melodic or just go nuts with something really out there.
But to make this work we'll have to post what we're going to do before putting up our tracks. So read the thread and pick something different from the person before you.
I think not many people will get involved, so if you want to, record two tracks and make them different from each other and make at least one of them different from the people that have posted before you.
I hope this is clear. :laughing7:
I figured I'd post this a little early so people can read it and ask questions if they don't understand what I'm getting at - and to maybe mess around with some scales or whatever before hand.
