Warmoth CTV - The Velocity

When you select "Strat Controls", a window opens up that allows you to choose whether or not to cut/drill the blade switch, 1 volume, and 2 tone control holes. So, there's a little bit of adjustment there for presence, but probably not position. However, they'll reposition controls for an adder. You need to talk to them on that; there's no way to include that feature in the Showcase or Builder. Or, you've got a large control cavity behind there - drill your holes yourself wherever it suits you.

You'll also notice they don't have that body in the "Builder" yet. I'm sure they're still working on the software to handle that. Once that's complete, I'm sure you'll see a few more options show up. For example, the CTV body just screams for an upper bout pickup selector switch location, like Gibson does for their Custom Telecaster Variation I mean, Les Paul.

Trying to make sense of the name, CTV.  Carved Top V, it's not a V, so I'm guessing V is the Roman Numeral 5, as in 5th Carved Top.  Of course, it could mean nothing.  It did need a name afterall.  I suppose it's better than Bill or Steve.

Looks like "CTV" = "Carved Top Velocity".

The new model name is the "Velocity", so you have the Velocity, and the Carved Top Velocity.

I've just register to ask those questions :

When are we going to see a assembled guitar with that body shape ?
When this is going to be add to the builder ?

I know we could order on the phone, but you know......I just love playing around with builds and whatnot :)

I have a quarterly bonus coming in October that I plan to drop a portion of on a CTV body.  Should be a treat!

Hello all. Long time lurker. I have the very first built Velocity. It's been together awhile and I probably should of shown it here some time ago but, better late than never eh?

You made us wait this long! Well done man, what pups you have in her?

Bridge pickup is a Bare Knuckle Blackhawk. Versatile, tight , super clean, it can handle more gain than I need. It responds really well to volume change. Neck was a Dimarzio Fast track in the photo but was recently replaced with a SD Custom Shop lil 59 with rails instead of screws and an Alnico 5 Magnet. It's really, really warm, a bit bassy, but still has nice breath and air. It's great clean and with moderate gain.

Very nice job! And first kid on the block, too! Looks better as a whole instrument in real life than I anticipated from looking at raw bodies.

Did Warmoth finish that body, or is that you? If it was you, what did you use?

I was not initially a fan of this body style AT. ALL. But I must say yours looks amazing! Great work and congrats! :icon_biggrin:

Warmoth finish. Most think its an odd combo but I had a reason for all of it. It's trans blue on the back which is chambered swamp ash. Clear gloss over a crazy carved rosewood top. I've got a back pic too, I'll post that in a few min.

The other significant specs:
All maple scalloped SRV neck. SS frets
Floyd Rose Special w/ large brass block
Wired volume, toggle, and a no-load tone

Edit: Back pic. bit blurry, sorry.

Mmm... got the nice carve-outs, too. I'll bet that is comfy.

The blue back is a surprise, though...

That's a sharp looking machine  :icon_thumright:  for the 1st cab off the rank.

I'm not a floyd fan, but sure looks the part on there.  :party07:

+1

I had no interest in this until I saw this pic. A carved top may be in my future.

I've actually had the pleasure of playing this and it was a beast! The scalloped neck took a little time to get used to but it was very comfortable. It sound great and has great output!

I know this is an old thread...but these things look killer when the neck is installed.

I'm about to have one put together this next week, and I'm incredibly excited! Chambered body, black korina with a spruce top, all tobacco burst. Roasted maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. Wilkinson trem, Righteous Sound pickups, I can't wait!!  :party07:

Gah!  Can't wait to see these popping up in finished form.  Can't wait for my parts to arrive!!  :hello2:
