I would consider one - but that has to be a nice long scale (not like their 7 strings) ... and why not some fanned frets thrown in for good measure and intonation as well. :headbang1:
That would cost a Short Horn-load if custom made ... I know ... :-\
There's a little cycle with their 7 strings. The 7 string enthusiasts feel the options are lacking so there's little demand, meanwhile there's little demand, so the options aren't there and the cycle continues. When a company sets to out to make top notch six-string Fender parts, everything outside of that takes a back seat. Until recently, some of their 4 string bass options were showcase only because the guitar aspect of production took priority over the machines. Throw 8 string guitars in that mix, and well?
All my projects have been postponed until after Christmas. At that point, I'll reconsider time, money, and interest. This question is just out of curiosity.
They have done some off the menu, custom order 7 string body styles. The options are very limited for the 7 string stuff. 2 body styles, 2 headstock shapes, 1 neck profile, 1 inlay option, 2 bridge options, 2 scale length options if you count baritone. I imagine an 8 string, if they did it, would have even less options.
