I did this diagram on request for a member of another forum, but I think it may have appeal to many others, so I'll post it up here, for anyone planning a Jazz bass build/rewire, that may be open to trying new ideas.
Most people are familiar with the concept of series/parallel switching in a VVT setup. In parallel, you have a volume pot for each pickup, but in series, the pickups become one signal with a master volume pot. That being said, a lesser known method of wiring a VVT setup allows two pickups to be in series, with volumes for each, that work by decreasing the impedance across a coil, so that its volume drops. The diagram below uses a 4PDT on/on mini toggle switch to select between both arrangements. So you have a series/parallel switch, but both volume pots remain functional in both modes.
