6.  “Owner finished’, within the scope of the GOM contest, shall be defined as an instrument, guitar or bass, that has had its paint, dye, stain, clear coats or other finish applied, in total, by the owner of the instrument.

I was going to ask if finishing part of the guitar would count, but you provided the very definitive answer here.
