volume bypass switch

I want an "11" on my volume knob and I was wondering if putting a DPST switch that bypasses my volume pot would do it. The thinking is that even at 10 I'm getting some resistance from the 250k pot.
I don't really know much about this stuff but I'd like to try it. Is this worth doing?

I did one in a Les Paul I wired up for my dad. It bypasses the bridge pickup volume and tone pots. It yields a bit more output and noticeably more high frequency content, drives a dirty amp nuts. If you are intrigued by it, it’s definitely worth trying it out.

Yeah the goal is to boost a dirty amp. I heard that Andy Summer's (The Police) only played a Tele because the one he had had a built in over drive. I want that functionality but don't like batteries.

If it is a two wire pickup you want to bypass the volume control you would need a DPDT switch a DPST throw which I suppose was a typo won't help.

Here is an article I wrote about "blower switches" for humbuckers which is a little more complicated but shows the principle.

When the blower switch is bypassing everything and sending everything straight to the output you might find it a little strident depending on taste etc in which case a resistor can be wired from one of the bypass terminals to ground.
