"Vintage Wiring" - P Bass

As I have mentioned a few times, I am working on a bass built to '62 specs.
As I have been researching, I keep coming across old forums where people have mentioned their pbass is wired with "vintage" or "50s" specs.
What does this mean? Isn't the P-bass wiring fairly straightforward? Not really much to mess with...

I've personally never seen one wired any different from normal. People sometimes use the word "vintage" to hide the fact that they don't have any idea what they're talking about. Wire it up like the Seymour Duncan website shows and I'll bet you'll be perfectly happy.

Haha that's honestly what I was thinking.
Would the caps they used back then be of different values then they are snow?

According to Fender, their American '57 and '62 P-Basses both use a .1 uf cap.

One pickup, one volume and one tone pot, no switch - how many variations can there be?  :icon_scratch:

Unless there's a change in the values of the tone cap, or the pot values, I am at a loss how things could change.

Maybe they mean the old cloth covered wire  :icon_scratch: I'm not Eric Johnston so I wouldn't have a clue what difference that would make  :dontknow:
