Vintage looking Stratocaster

Hi all,

I have 3 Warmoth necks and 1 body to date. I'd like to buy more but it troubles me that the Warmoth Stratocasters (both normal and "Vintage") do not look like a Stratocaster. The treble side cutaway joins the body between the 19th and 20th frets (a Fender joins after the 20th). The bass side cutaway is too deep, making the top horn look too long.

I hastly overlaid a Warmoth Vintage Strat with a photo from the Fender website to show what I mean. The Warmoth is red, the Fender is blue. The photos don't quite line up but hopefully you can see what I mean.

You could argue that Warmoth have perfected the shape, the contours are very smooth. However, I'm drawn to the more hand made looking Fender shape.

I had a brief discussion with Spike from Warmoth a while ago and he explained that they don't get many requests along these lines. That's fair enough, but I find it kinda surprising that I seem to be alone. I'd love to buy more Warmoth bodies (the in-stock showcase is a great idea and unique to Warmoth I think).

Am I the only one who wants a vintage looking Strat?

Cheers,

Martin.

Probably has to do with the licensing agreement. These large, traditional manufacturers have been known to pursue legal action against those getting too close to the design. Don't know if the other two well known players (USACG or Musikraft) get closer to what you prefer. I have no complaints about Warmoth products.

Thanks musicispeace, I just saw your reply! It's hard to tell from the limited photos of USACG, Musikraft or StewMac bodies. I think I'll stick with Fender bodies for the vintage look, and Warmoth for modern (e.g. rear rout).

I wouldn't mention it, except this really is my one and only complaint, and the sole reason I haven't bought more.
