Thought I would document my latest build....
Although I am using another neck on this now I thought I would still show how I installed the tuners on the original neck:
I didn't photo the top ferrule installation... but I did open up the holes ever so slightly with a dremel tool then pressed them in with a drill press.
get the tuners in for a dry fit and get them level... I used a small ruler to get them aligned on the bottom then marked where the screws need to be drilled with a silver sharpie:
Then I used 2 drill bits.... first being smaller just a hair smaller than the actual screw threads. then a second that was larger for the part of the screw that does not have threads:
You should be able to screw these in with a finger tip screwdriver ..... if you can't then the pilot holes are too small:
Oh and don't forget to lube the screws... you can use wax or bar soap.... I used Irish Spring.... nice and fresh:
Ta-Da!
Shielding... Yes I am a fan.... also a quick little tip for grounding the bridge.... a little solder wick (for removing solder) gets nice and flat and works well for this..
Cleaning the finish out of drilled holes for the bridge screws helps keep the finish from cracking...... I used a small drill bit using my fingers to just take the lip off the finish.... Oh and soap up these screws as well.... hepls them go in easier and makes your guitar smell spring fresh!
cleaning the finish out of the jack hole as well Used a dremel here again with a small sanding wheel:
Then dry fitting the Electrosocket... and drilling the holes for the mounting screws:
lining up the pickguard and drilling the pilot holes for the screws:
So....... I had the original neck on there for a while.... but the headstock was not right for me....... I really like the Warhead ... but wanted it a little more "Tele-fied" so for an extra $45 .... I was able to get it done....
Now that looks more my speed......
A few little bits and accessories ... some basic wiring (2) 250K CTS posts, a .047uf cap.... did not want to go the switch route ala original Esquire ... live I'm quicker with the pots...
a Chocolate bribe to the photog-man for a couple glamour shots:
