Vintage Gloss

Hey, I'm still thinking about what's gonna be my first custom Warmoth. Right now I'm pretty much going for a cream Strat with a CBS neck vintage gloss. However, as I was browsing through the showcase, the vintage gloss necks appeared very orange...

Is it the real color or is it just the photo ???

I think the ones in the showcase do appear a little overly orange. If your concern may keep you from getting what you want, perhaps when ordering you can get them to tone it down 25% or so. Or have them add a small amount of tint to the end of a batch of standard gloss before shooting yours. Never hurts to ask.

I think you would be happy with the neck finish going with that cream body. I have a vintage white body that on the Warmoth site looked a little darker than in person. I imagine it to be the same for the cream.

I think this is a pretty good color render of what the vintage tint gloss looks like. It was taken outside in natural light. When I bring it inside it does get a little more orange.

I have never actually seen one in person...  :icon_scratch:
However, from what I can see Warmoth is usually  particular to be sure the pic is a true representation of the item.
i.e. There was a radiant strat that Warmoth pictured in a particular thread.
Gregg felt the pic was not a true representation of the correct color, so they did not put it in the showcase until it could be rephotographed.

some of the alder bodys in the showcase a few months ago looked very dark, probably a problem with lighting or my monitor. you could be seeing the same thing.

Their satin finsh is Nitro, and available in clear gloss and vintage tint.  The Nitro is not UV protectant, so overtime sunlight exposure will yellow the maple, if you're into that.  I am.

I never ordered a finished neck, but in the case of bodies, anything I've ever ordered from Warmoth looked better in person than it did in the Showcase picture.

From my own experience in taking pics I've finished in about the same manner, i.e., maple necks/bodies shot with Fender Neck Amber and lacquer it's really hard to get an accurate color representation unless shot outside in natural sunlight, especially with digital cameras.

Oops.  Their clear satin isn't gloss obviously, it's satin.

Both my body and my neck seemed darker in the showcase pics than they did in real life, probably just the lighting or type of cameras they use... :dontknow:

I know this reply is a few years down the road but I felt compelled to throw in my experience with this.  I bought a Vintage Gloss neck from Warmoth about 3 or 4 years ago and just recently bought another Warmoth neck in Vintage tint Satin finish. 

When I first saw the new Satin neck by itself, I thought it looked orange.  I took it home and compared the tint to the older Warmoth neck.  Much to my surprise, both necks looked approximately the same color.  I then pulled out my two 1998 Fender American Stratocaster Standards with factory vintage-tinted necks and found that the Warmoth tint was actually a pretty good match for both of these factory necks.

By themselves and on the website they may appear more orange but when compared to other necks (especially the factory-tinted neck) the tint has some validity and is a good match to SOME factory necks.

Your idea of a vintage-tinted neck may be different but I have always liked the shade of my Fender necks (not too light and not too dark, a very deep Golden Amber).
