The staple P90 sounds great in the middle position. I didn't know what it was when I first saw it, but after some research I found it is quite a unique pickup. It is supposed to be brigher and clearer than a conventional P90.

JH, I know that the Staple was used only for a few years in before the Humbucker was invented. It’s truly a special pickup, even if it was made as the competition of the D’Armond single coil in Gretsch and Guild guitars. In that short period of time it was heard on many great recordings in the ‘50s by Elvis, Carl Perkins, Les Paul and Merle Travis just to name a few. I chose it because I wanted to harken back to an era when music was more pure.
