Did the amp head always have the buzz, or did it develop? Suddenly?

It developed suddenly.  I'll look into that, CB, thanks for the tip!

Looking back over the thread, you said: "I could mostly stop it with a pencil's eraser on the middle preamp tube.  I pulled that tube and reseated it and the buzz is still there but a lot quieter."

For $8-10 bucks you can replace that tube, might try that as a first step....

That would prove it out; but the noise would still be there... Hard to tell without hearing the sound it's making, but a while back I picked up a older Peavy Classic 50 with a similar issue for cheap, put a new set of pre-amp tubes in it and voila!

How about turning the amp OFF and playing a stereo loudly underneath it, and then holding things in there to find out what is rattling?
