Uh, by hermit, do you mean swami? I know all about the cult of skinny necks. I had a early 90's Carvin DC-127 24 3/4 scale with ebony fingerboard and 6100's I just couldn't play it anymore maybe due to age or I dunno.

Maturity more than age ;)

The truth is neck profiles aren’t that big a deal. If I can switch between mandolin and guitar, I sure as heck can switch between a skinny neck and a baseball bat.

But choice is nice and that is why everyone should choose the 59 Roundback.
