Used warmoth tele neck, 1/4 inches thick nut slot? + build pics!

Hey,

Am building my second tele partscaster with a beautiful (used) warmoth roasted maple tele neck.

It didn't come with a nut and the slot looks to have slightly unusual dimensions.

The neck/nut width is the standard 43mm (1" 11/16 inches), however the slot is 5.5mm (1/4 inches) thick...

I bought a TUSQ nut which is 3.4mm / 1/8 thick but obviously this wont work.

I can't seem to find an OEM/Pre-slotted nut to fit, except for nuts designed for Gibson/Epiphone which are designed to be mounted at the end of the fretboard -  and I don't have any nut files to make one from scratch....

Can anyone suggest a nut that will fit - can I use an Epiphone/Gibson nut and sand it to the right height?

Jim

Edit - in case anyone is interested I've uploaded some pictures (sorry for quality just snapped them in the garden!) of the build so far.. as you can see the body was a splotchy purple mess when I bought it and after staining and tru-oiling it's getting there!

Thanks guys, makes complete sense!

Good news - I've always wanted to try a roller nut.

Bad news - $60 vs $12 TUSQ!

Ordered LSR, thanks!

Couldn't it be cut for an Earvana nut? I'm sure those are a little wider than the regular Tusq XL nuts. :icon_scratch:
