unique switching

I was hoping someone had the technical knowledge for a plot I had for a new project. For a two humbucker guitar, I want to use a four way switch; 1: neck coils in series, 2: neck coils in parallel, 3: bridge coils in parallel, 4: bridge coils in series. I don't have any love for the usual middle position.

I understand the concept of series/parallel. I followed a schematic for my Tele's standard 4 way switch. But I just can't follow what's actually happening in the switch to make my own diagram.

Thank you heroes.

Just off the top of my head with a standard Tele 4 way switch with two humbuckers to do what you intend won't fly as there are not enough poles on the switch. The 4 way is for two generally single coils in parallel or series when both pickups are on.

You could do it with a 5 way super switch and have an extra position. Or use a 3 way and use an extra  switch such as a push pull for the series/parallel selection.

Then you need this:

http://www.dimarzio.com/sites/default/files/diagrams/2hum1v1t_ep1112parallel.pdf

It gives you what you want in position 1,2,4 & 5. The middle position (3) gives you both humbuckers - as usual - but you don't need to use it obviously.

My man! That's perfect. I haven't scoured Dimarzio's setups as much as Seymour's. Thanks forever.

No worries. That's what's so great about this forum. So many helpful and knowledgable folks eager to please. I've received tons of tips and tricks in the short period I've been part of this excellent forum.

I think the difference here is that most of the folks passing along knowledge have actually done what they're talking about rather than just parroting what they heard their step-father's cousin's best friend's son's classmate did. For Eddie VanHalen. For free. To save the day. For the children. Twice.

Nice thing with wiring, it's reversible.

A set of test leads for the price of a cup of coffee can be priceless in trying before you solder.
