It's been a while since I have posted in the forum.
Just picked up this body out of the screaming deals section:

I am planning of putting a pure tung oil finish on it.  I do have a couple of questions however:

1) Do i need to mask off the ivoroid binding or will the tung oil wipe off cleanly after each coat?
2) It is a quilted maple top, therefore, I am thinking that it doesnt need filler as the wood is very tight, so I can go straight to a 50-50 mix of tung oil and citrus solvent and let the oil fill in the pores. Am I thinking clearly?

Anything else I am missing?

I think you can go right over the binding.  It may change the color just a bit.  The maple will not need filled but the back will need to be depending on the wood.  If it is alder you likely do not need it.

This is not quilt but one of my favorite LPs.  Tom Scholtz baby!!!

Why Tung oil ?  Pure Tung oil is ok for salad bowls.

Tru oil, would be a good choice for this body.

I'd be tempted to try a little bit of dye sanded back even for a natural finish.

Yes. Aniline dye basically soaks into the wood and can be considered bare wood for most finishes.  But definitely practice on something else before messing with that gorgeous top.
