Thanks! and been gratified that when I took this axe to a local wood shop (yes, showing off, and also looking for thoughts on how to proceed, the woman who taught wood finishing techniques thought I'd come up with effective ideas she'd not heard of . She did not comment on practicality, I'm well aware that 20 layers of oil finish is far from 'efficient' .

All that feels awesome, trying not to let it to go my head!
