tung canary

A canary neck is coming to my house soon. I'm pretty sure I want to use tung oil on it.

It's very hot and humid here in north Alabama, so I need to know if it's safe to apply it in the garage (open or closed?) and let it cure for a few days. Is tung oil safe to use indoors?

As far as safety is concerned, it will be fine.
It's recommended to thin the first few coats with mineral spirits.

We don't take kindly to them folks 'round here. :tard:

I'll put at least one coat of Tung on the neck (probably several coats on the ash body) just for protection. Who am I kidding: For smoothness, too.
I'm just wondering if there's any problem with a super special neck with truss rod sitting in a hot garage for a whole day or more.

Exactly.

Thou shalt not defile thine wood with Nitrocellulose, nor Polyurethane, nor the oil obtained from the seeds of any tree. The Lord hates these things most.

The Lord has proved especially wrathful toward those who finish over raw neckbacks. Remember what happened to the poor, lost soul who dared to defile the Lord's sacred design for the Wenge neck by drowning it in gloss? He was forced to drop out of art school and suffered great shame with his eBay listing. Years ago, a village might have stone him to death for such unrighteousness.

Nothing wrong with the neck sitting in the garage.  I am compelled to say however that as the proud owner of two canary necks, you don't have to do anything to them to have them very nice and playable.

If it feels a little ruff, hit it with some 1000 grit sandpaper or higher.  My Wenge felt like glass after doing that.
