Or not maybe but please tell me.

I ordered and received a neck from Warmoth. It is like this:
Construction Vintage Modern
Orientation Right Handed
Shaft Wood Maple
Fingerboard Wood Maple
Nut Width 1 3/4"
Back Contour Fatback
Fretwire SS6115 (Stainless)
Tuner ream Schaller (25/64", 11/32")
Mounting Options Standard 4 Bolt
Fret Number 22
Radius 10-16" Compound
Inlays No Inlay, Side Dots Only
Nut Install No Nut Install

And I alsoi ordered  Schaller Mini Locking Tuner, Left Side, Chrome  - 6 of them.

The neck is not finished and I'm still looking at it thinking what I'll finish it with. But anyway, I took out the machines and I tried just fitting and it seems that they are pretty tight and dont seat all the way. There is a little bit that will need some additional persuasion ot get the tuners to seat flush against the headstock. Is that the way it is supposed to be?

Cheers - Ed

The sperzel tuners I just fit to my new neck were a very tight fit, but did manage to seat properly. Perhaps you just need to run a drill through the holes - same size as the existing holes, but just enough to loosen up the fit.

Yes, they're tight, and supposed to be. By hand, you'll probably have between 1/16" and 1/8" left to close up once you've pushed them in as far as they'll go. Don't try to open the holes up or you'll wreck 'em - there's a shelf in there. Just push the bodies in as far as you can and thread the top retainer bushings on until they're flush, then tighten them up with a 10mm socket. It'll pull the tuner in the rest of the way. Or, if you like to live dangerously, you could spank on the tuner bodies with a small fret hammer...

...or, try squeezing them in with a clamp...

Either way will work, but you will be applying pressure to the locking pin flange that it's not designed to take so there's some risk of breakage.

I pushed a bit hard on my Schaller lockers until they got most of the way thru, put the face side bits in, then made the two mate with a socket wrench. This was with a finish applied by W. YMMV.

Thanks fellas
Feel a lot better. I'll just go for tightening them flush gently with the socket is what I think is safest as I ordered the neck drilled for those tuners.
