Sounds like some kind of epoxy; I'd avoid that...
Where are you located?
You can actually fill the grain just using the Tru-oil, but it takes a LONG time, and like around 40+ coats for korina. Don't think I'd recommend that for swamp ash; what wood is the body made from?
