I've been looking through this and other forums and could not find the clear answers to some qustions. Maybe together we can make the summary to avoid any confusion about the subject.

Tremolos:

1) Hipshot 42100
    dimensions : http://www.hipshotproducts.com/files/all/6stg_trem_dims.pdf (no studs/bushings dimensions unfortunately)
    routing: ???

2) Gotoh Wilkinson -

    dimensions:  http://www.warmoth.com/hardware/bridges/pdf/Gotoh_Diagram.pdf
    routing: http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/options/options_guitar_bridge_routing.cfm

3) American Standard
    dimensions: ??????
    routing: http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/options/options_guitar_bridge_routing.cfm

4) Gotoh 510T
    dimensions: http://www.hosco.co.jp/HOSCO_ENGLISH/Pages/gotoh_catalog2008/tremolo_510.html
    routing:????

5) Schaller 2000
    dimensions: http://schaller-guitarparts.de/upload/CY25a14e89X11a9b4c84c6X2466/1213789928544/TZ_TremoloSystem_NonfinetuningTremolo2000.pdf
    routing: ?????

The questions are:

1) The routing compability
2) The studs compabilty
3) Bushing size
5) String spacing
6) Overall dimensions
7) Block material options
8) Block dimensions

I've got an impression that all non-US tremolos (i.e. Gotoh, Wilkinson, Schaller) have larger bushings due to metric system. I guess (but I don't know for sure) the studs will not fit the american bushings as well. So those non-US tremolos are NOT direct replacements for Am.Std tremolo. Still it would be good to know if they can be direct replacements between themselves.

It would be good to know if Hipshot studs would fit Am.Std bushings. Are Hipshot bushings has the same dimensions?

I fitted a Hipshot trem to USA standard Strat a few weeks ago.
The bushings had to be removed, but the holes in the body were the correct size for the new Hipshot bushings.
So if the Hipshot is going on a new body, drilled for USA standard trem, the Hpshot bushings should go in fine  :icon_thumright:
