trem spring tension

What is the typical time frame in replacing the springs in the trem?  I have noticed that my VIP is constantly going out of tune, so I examined it more carefully and it appears that the Wilkie trem isnt laying flat like it did when I first got it, it is slightly angled up in the back from the string tension.  I have never used the arm, so it isnt from dive bombing or anything like that.

Some springs' tension does lessen when 1st installed.

My adice, buy Raw Vintage trem springs.

Fit all 5 ( they have the feel of 3 ) and revel in your new stability and SUSTAIN !!  ccasion14:

if you never use your trem, why not fit in a hipshot tremsetter?

A tremsetter doesn't disable the trem in any way, just stabilizes it.

I don't see why you couldn't... but could you use em on a Floyd as well?

Just received my springs yesterday, I also have a 37mm brass sustain block on its way for my Floyd as well. Hopefully that'll be a nice one-two punch!  :icon_thumright:

Well, it'll probably be another month before you get one. Cursed laquer curing times! But I look forward to giving it.
