Thoughts from anyone who actually has a Trem King? Anything at all that might help me better understand their quality? Thanks.

I saw your dissappointment for lack of posts in another thread.  Maybe no one has responded because no one owns one.  There was a Tele on the Forum with one a while back.  The company is in Ft. Worth, which is local for me.  If dropped off, they will even install it.  Thing is, it doesn't really retrofit in an existing route.  Most have to be modified and W doesn't offer a route for this, though I can't blame them.  They can't and shouldn't make a route for everything out there.

I've never even seen one, but have you read this article from Guitar Player? Seems to say most of what needs to be said. No long-term experience there, but they talk about the mechanics of the thing and the advantages/disadvantages involved.

thanks  :icon_thumright: I wasn't very confident in the first place that anyone here would have one, but I figured it was worth an ask. I like the overarching concept of the TremKing, but (as an amateur engineer), so much of the final execution of that concept seems ungainly to me. Why the crazy frack does the trem bar insert right smack dab in the middle of the saddles? Why does it use a different routing scheme? Why is the trem arm so bulbous at the far end? All these things a good engineer should look at and think "what the crap?!?"  :tard:

IF they redesigned it to look on the surface more like a traditional Strat Trem (which I think they could), with the bar inserting in a similar location to the SIDE of the saddles, (and maybe even some saddles that, while rolling saddles, look similar to vintage ones,) I might start considering one. But right now, they look like poorly designed crap based on a very good idea. :dontknow:

I had some of those same questions myself. But, it's fairly new, isn't it? I'm sure it'll evolve if they can stay in business. Or, it's possible they're being different just for the sake of being different in order to avoid some patent battles. There's a lot more money in litigation these days than there is in manufacturing, and virtually no liability.
