Transporting an Orange Bass Terror 500 w head lying on it's side?

I'm currently impressed by the lunchbox-size Orange Bass Terror 500 w head (http://www.orangeamps.com/terror-bass-500/). It gave me the idea of getting a custom roadcase like this made: http://www.capro.no/Customers/capro/images/Standardkasser%20PRO%20serie/PB_01.jpg, but with a handle on the side so it can be carried as a suitcase. It would have room for the Bass Terror with straps to hold it in place, my pedalboard and small rooms for strings, picks, etc.
Is it safe to transport an amp head similar to this on it's side even if it's small and strapped inside a separate compartment in a case?

I wouldn't if it was mine to move. Standing it on end isn't a problem for storing or operation, but the transformers in there are going to be very heavy and all that mass will have a helluva lotta inertia. If somebody sets the case down any way but very gently, they're liable to rip themselves out of their moorings in the chassis. That's not only going to seriously wreck things, it's a difficult repair.

That's why you never see them mounted that way. The best orientation is with the chassis below the transformers, like this...

although some will mount them hanging, as you've seen a million times on old Fender amps.

Incidentally, another good reason to mount things so the chassis is below is that heat rises, so you don't have your tubes cooking all your internal electronics. A typical power tube such as a 6L6 will dissipate about 60 watts of heat just sitting there idle, and it goes up from there. So, including the preamp tubes a 100 watt amp running full-tilt boogie is gonna dissipate about 350-400 watts of heat. That's substantial.

as the man says, keep it flat, chassis side down.  I've seen transformers ripped out of chassis in touring amps - and it's no fun.  And of course the guy who did it has a gig that night and has no money and is shocked when told it's at least a week to get parts and it will be several hundred bucks.  :)

Keep it flat - chassis side down.  does not matter how nice the road case is.

From my oint of view I think it's OK to transport it lying on it's side since it is a class D amp.
At only 5kg/11lb, there can't be big transformers in there (as in Class A/AB tube amps). The metal chassis is probably the heaviest part of the amp.
Or lets just have a look inside:
