So I'm five weeks into waiting for my 10-12 week neck. Since I have desperately needed to do something in the meantime, here's what I have so far:

I used the much maligned soldering iron method on the ferrules.  Worked like a charm.

Pups arrived today.  Yes, I went with Fender.  :hello2: Afterall, I want it to sound like a Tele  :guitaristgif:

Waxed the screws and it went in like butter.

I've decided to cue off of the bridge and use a combo of black and chrome hardware.  So far, I'm digging it.

Took the Gotoh saddles off and, on the advice of a trusted few, plugged in the Graphtechs.  I battled with the neck configuration, coloring, etc., and ultimately decided that this is the right look for this build.  So far, so happy.  :icon_thumright:

I'm digging it, too.  Looking very nice.  Seven more weeks(ish), and you'll be able to put that baby to work.

I agree. Very attractive, and good parts. The anticipation has to be murderous.

Looks good! What I do is once the screw is run in, I back it out and use a toothpick to push whatever excess wax is around back into the hole, wipe it down nice, then reinstall the screw/part where it was. Otherwise, the wax will collect grunge and every time you wipe the guitar down you'll smear wax around again.

Good advice Cagey.

When I was drilling the pilot holes, I forgot about the chambering.  Nothing bad happened, it just took me a little off guard when I punched through.  At least I was ready for it on the second hole.  :glasses9:

Hehe! Yeah, the same thing has happened to me. The drill punches through and you go WTF?!? What is this, an ant farm?

The neck pickup arrived today and I finished wiring her up just now.  This is all I can do until the neck arrives.

One problem though.  I tested the neck pickup and it was very weak.  I replaced the chrome pickup cover with a black one and I suspect I might not have seated it well enough.  Too much distance between the pickup and the top of the cover maybe?  I will take it apart later and check it out.

The Quilt looks Wow, like the black / chrome combo. The input jack is perfect on the black
edge.

Didn't mean it as a bash, so much as I meant it as a compliment to Warmoth as a greater value for your consumer dollar.
It is true, you do get more features for your dollar, and more personal options available as an end consumer.

Fender has a very different goal and target than warmoth. I don't see one as better than the other, because they are not on the same playing field. Fender sells stock previously assembled guitars to people who like what they sell, and try to draw in people who don't, as with the set neck tele. I give them props for offering different models and specs, and while many assemble guitars with warmoth, it is essentially a parts company. They have an agreement with Fender and if they began to compete with Fender, their best selling products would go away. I also think it's great that Fender has agreed to licence with warmoth and other companies in acknowledgement of the world of modders.

just my two pence.
